Next up is Valentines Day and I have posted a salmon and shrimp recipe in this paper and on Facebook. We have a good selection of fish and shrimp. We try to sell Canadian fish that are wild and sustainable. In the case of farmed fish, we select Canadian farms that are environmentally sensitive. (No Antibiotics etc.) Chicken is our number one selling meat and we offer fresh chicken every weekend. Our chicken comes in on Wednesday afternoon fresh from our Mennonite farm suppliers. The birds are free run, drug and hormone free and are raised and shipped in a low stress environment. All that leads to chicken that is tasty, juicy and tender; just like Grandma had back on the farm. Our fresh beef comes in on Friday at noon. Our beef is unique; no other store offers beef like ours - ours is the best. Compare: we only use Black Angus prime steers; the cattle are raised with out drugs and hormones in a local low stress environment; all of the meat is dry aged for 21 days; that includes the ground and stew meat. Who else dry ages ground beef? The ground and stew meat are single source - meaning the meat in one package is from one steer. Ask a supermarket for singe source ground beef. In simple terms are beef just tastes better. I had a customer in the store this weekend buying steaks and he told me he does not order steak in restaurants any more because it is not as good as what he buys from me. That really says it all. My wife has a new hobby growing hydroponic herbs. She harvested some basil this weekend and it sold really well. So, keep an eye out as we grow more organic herbs for you. We are starting out very small; but then fifteen years ago I was only selling bacon and a few sausages. So look what you have done to me; turned my part-time retirement job into full time work at age &%. We have beef, chicken, duck, pork, lamb, bison & seafood that are excellent in taste and tenderness and have been raised with care by local farmers or Mennonite farmers in Heidelberg without the use of hormones and anti-biotics.
